Artist's Comments

This is a line art of my newest design for my character, Iris. I'm really happy with her new design here. I placed her in a mountainous coastal setting because her kind resides in a kingdom near the mountains and the sea.

Everything in Iris's culture from the architecture and music, to the colors and decorative clothing is influenced by both alpine and oceanic beauty. The rainbow has been a symbol of luck, hope and happiness for centuries, and is also a strong influence in her culture's clothing, art, jewelry, and decor.

I never finished a colored version of this piece, but I want to one day complete a new full color illustration of Iris. I've been gradually developing her story, and I'm weaving another character of mine, Teska Featherstone, into it too. I hope you like it!

Haha, I just saw this on your site and wondered if you'd upload it here... she's so pretty! I love her new outfit, it's sooo detailed and nice and I'm glad you decided to stick with that design :] Starfish and unicorn horns/seashells are a really nice addition, too :)
I admit her face looks a bit weird to me atm, but I know it's just lineart and I'm sure the finished painting is going to rock :D Wheee!

And wow, I want her shoes @_@

The background is puzzling. There are seashells on the front and trees in the back. So is she at the beach or in a forest?

Can't wait to see a colored version of it.

That earing on her right hand side, please tell me you used the marquee tool or something similar, and didn't do it by hand... because if you did, I'd never be able to touch my tablet again...
